How many crates do you guys have in your Dj Software or iTunes?

Simple?

That could work...

Then again, I have 19 different folders.

Within my folders, I color code my tunes and give them a numerical value of strenth.

I'm constantly moving tracks around. Lot's of fun.

Yeah, I'm a categorizing freak when it comes to my tunes. That's how I get to know them though. And when I have no idea what the hell to play, I go off my color/number system.

Dance
Downtempo
funk
hiphop
house
minimal

the other crates are full albums...

cool topic! here are my sections:

breaks
dark-electro
electronic-closers
house
nudisco
progressive-dark
progressive-pretty
tech-house
tech-pounding
tech-progressive

but lately all my tracks have been ending up in folders, called "unsorted", "new", and now "newer", lol! i guess new-ness out-ranks subgenre for me!

LOL I sort by actual tags. so for all new music I change the Genre tag to: "TAG ME" This tells me its not ready for my Crates.

Since not everything ends up in my crates, I add CRATE to the tag as such: House or House Crate, Electro House or Electro House Crate, Hard House or Hard House Crate. I do this all in the genre tag. The reason I use the id3 tag is that now wherever I go, that track is tagged the same, no matter what software I use on whoevers rig, I will always be able to sort my tracks on the fly.

And as a bonus, since they all end up with the last 2 words being "XXX Trance Crate" or "XXX House Crate" if I ever wanted to do a gig and carry all my house or all my trance, i just make a smart folder for "House/Trance/etc + Crate in the genre.

House Music is a style of electronic dance music initially popularized in mid - 1980s, so it is a type of dance music. ChaCha on!
