What digital mixing software is everyone using out there... I always see DJ's at the club spinning on a laptop and they never seem to want to talk about what they use? I'm all like "What software do you spin with..." and they're all like "blah blah, mumble mumble"; ignored? Who knows, right? Anyway- I'm all about Linux/Unix and the open source apps... Currently I've been using/re-building a program called MiXXX (For Linux, Windows and Mac OS) it's a decent little program and has been working fine for me as of yet, but i'm looking for something a bit more professional and powerful? Maybe even something with a external BPM counter? I dunno, before i start rambling i leave it at this? What are you using?

p.s. - this is not a discussion on why vinyl is better than digital media... i hate it whenever i start talking about digital media, some jerk has to lay into me with the whole (if you can't afford vinyl, don't spin)

two words...TRAKTOR PRO
I use VDJ Pro. But as mentioned by Clee most peeps on here that run software are runnin Traktor Pro or just plain Traktor 3.
yeah, we use VDJ Pro as well and love it... thanks for the reply... i got TRAKTOR up and running and i guess i'll try it out and see if we like it better than VDJ... anyone see any obvious traits/capabilities that would make one better than the other? or is it just preference?
most obvious differense is the four decks. i know vdj can do 4 decks with multi instance. but there is no 4 deck skin for VDJ pro. I do prefer the overlapped waveform that VDJ has over Traktors side by side waveform.
TRAKTOR PRO, but I need not say it....because I've already created the Traktor Army on YC.
Serato...

If they wont tell you what they are using it is probably to hide the fact that they have no skills..

The reason why I have been mixing for all these years is because it helps me find my center of balance,,and the major factor of that is having to physically match and hold the beat while mixing. To me,,, anything that does that for you completely defeats the purpose of mixing. (This ismy personal opinion and is in no way putting down other people's mediums)
Eye opening tidbit for ya fish... A general statement indicating people that choose a medium have no skills IS a lame attempt at a putdown. I'll gladly bust out vinyl and throw down at you on my most "uncentered" day. Could those that made the jump state that you can mix but have no vision? Because every club I've been to lately your beloved 1200 is used more like a table or cupholder. And for your piece of mind. I dint have a sync button assigned in my setup and use 2 jogwheels to beatmatch. Check the disses at the door bro because we don't give a shit if you mix on 2 tracks here. It's about you sharing your soul. Your crate. The love and the music sir.
My point is... That I love the feal of the "beloved" 1200. That is why "I" (Yes I said I) play. I don't want to jog wheel, or synch, or whatever it is that you do. Have at it!!!! Enjoy what you do,, if it is fun for you. Just not my thing. Click, paste, point, click.. Its all about what you play anyway. I saw Kevin Saunderson play this year in Detroit on a couple of Laptops and it was one of the sickest sets I hasve ever heard.. So B It.... I have also seen him play vinyl and it was the same (DOPE with a capitol OPE)...

So,,, Throw down with your pants down.

If you think that was a dis,,, you are mistaken.

Just an honest opinion from years of experience...

Usually if you have to tell people about throwing down,,, well,,, you know.

And if a club is using 1200 for a cup holdeits probably not t he kind of club I would want to be in. Sorry

As a matter of fact, I have never been anywhere were they didnt have turntables and or CD players.

No trying ti "dis" or whatever the hip kids are saying these days. Just speaking from experience. That is how I feel about it. I think you would like to hear someones honest opinion rather than some sugar coated Peace Love and Unity crap. I know its all about the music and I have to tell you from beep down in my heart 99% of the music out there is CRAP!!!!! At least when we were all playing records there was a little more of a selective process in getting a song out there. Now,, its just piles and piles of garbage that takes more time to sort through than its worth. By the end of a day of going through tracks I want to stick a steak knife through my eardrum.... But,,, I also dont want to miss any hidden gems so I have to listen to it all. The Bad, The Worse, And The OOoogly.

I guess I am just an old fashion prude with no vision. Well, so be it.

MP3 and WAV files suck!!!!!!! There I said it.... But its all we have and This is how I cope with it,, by venting my frustration with other people who should have a good enough ear for sound to realize it sucks right along with me!!!! Muahhh..

I do feel much better now,, thanks. Think I will go home and play some crappy MP3's and drink until they sound better.
