YourCrate.com

As expected Mogulus is now charging for access to the studio that we're used to. Ad free, and full of features. I expected to have YourCrate properly positioned to handle this by having about 10 paid shows live by now and able to support their pro rates to keep us going strong, ad free, and with all the features we're used to. Unfortunately there arent enough shows to support the rates that Mogulus has pulled out of their ass, The estimate for YCTV to remain live in the pro version is close to $580.00 A MONTH. This takes into account the number of shows live, shows stored, and viewers per show. Had we been rolling strong with our previous pricing model and a 10 shows we would have been prepared, unfortunately we are not.

What does this mean? I am currently investigating other technologies, however this may mean that we'll lose some functionality we're used to. OR we stay with mogulus as a free account and lose features and see ads during our shows that dont benefit YourCrate.

Thoughts...?

sorry to hear about the curve ball. go with the free version until you build up the listener base. give show preference to those who can bring the most quality content to your site. this will attract more listeners in the end and generate more ad-revenue throughout yc.com - then maybe look at going back to the pro version and sharing the cost with the producers if you have to.

yctv show producers could talk more about the new tracks they spinning - make show tracklistings mandatory or something and have them post about their favorite tracks each week. maybe with a wider listener base this could get the attention of fledging producers with industry connections who like to see their tracks being promoted and lead to more quality attention to the site.

get on soundcloud.com and tell all the producers there that you have an internet radio site full of dj's looking for fresh track submissions to play live on the air, and setup a track submission forum where yctv producers can rate/accept submitted tracks or just post honest feedback for producers to learn from - that may get some more hits as well.

We have all put A LOT of work into our shows and fan base and I would hate to lose that. I personally have been up every single night supporting shows all over the net to gain support for YourCrate and YCTV's daily shows. It is a lot to ask people to sit in front of a computer screen to watch shows. I think that in time we can pull through, but i would hate to have to start from scratch on this endeavor. Is there a way to embed a player for internet radio... something that would be a bit cheaper, for us all, for now, till we can build a bigger show base?

Good, cause I believe in what we have accomplished in the last 10(?) months! Having a site that can basically run itself and still be an amazing host for musicians, DJs and Fans from all over the world is amazing! We have all stood together strong and I hope that we can all work together to achieve a stronger connection through music.

I have had several discussions regarding the chat for guest-fans that are not musicians or djs, but just fans, that don't want to get the 3rd degree from the profile requirements. Is there a way to have a separate log-in for guests only? This could help increase the traffic flow on our shows, even perhaps the site. People like to be a part of what's going on live.

This was an amazing idea, put together and growing, from a community of believers. We want this to be the place that we as a family can call home!

Let's step it up! Use this site! Use YourCrate.com as your marketing tool! Email, promotion and your own live show! It's here! If you are active in your local scene, you too can reap the benefits of YourCrate.com!

Whatever is clever......any way to reduce the monthly charge from mogulus? Perhaps limit the number of shows that are currently stored???

Now that I've read all the comments I believe that Bobby ^ Courtney have put some great ideas & thoughts on the table. Tracklistings, a link where producers can submit demos, more marketing by users/producers. Friends asking friends to join the site. If each current member (which is about 350) invites 5 people, the site would grow to 1750!!!
The site only been LIVE for less that a year.......

How bout on the community page having everyone organized by state/country?
Yourcrate.com stickers, towels, tshirts, keychains (whatever is cheap to produce) for user events/gigs or even local concerts, etc?

I will support the site to the fullest. We def. need more shows and some sort of promo push to grow site.

YCTV will never die!
