Alright the age old question...Traktor or Serato? I'm deciding between the two and need some input from all you gearheads. The new Traktor Pro seems pretty sick and it appears to have more goodies but I know a lot of DJs using Serato. I have seen issues with Serato during live sets and I've never been too sure about the sound quality. The specs on the new Traktor are impressive...I don't know...HELP!

Serato is a great control for music playing. the program is easy to navigate and for basic users it is top notch!

Traktor is also an amazing tool for dj use. if you are into looping, sampling, effects.. traktor gives you alot of options. there is alot to learn when using this program. I really like both programs and traktor has opened my eyes to new things i never had the guts to try. I still love my serato, but have considered a switch to traktor pro with the midi controller! thanks Edson!

Seriously now...Traktor puts on the fly production in the palm of your hands. I do it all the time in my sets.
One thing is for sure and i think is the point of this topic. Midi and computer based djing is the future. Creativity has always been limited by technology. Now technology has caught up. We need to capitalize on it.
Damn looks like I created a hot topic! I like the idea of Traktor because I would like to put more production into my sets and not JUST play CD's. However I still like using the CDJ's and I'm not ready to give those up...I'm not sure if I want to DJ with just a controller. I like the idea of having both thats why I was thinking about the A&H D4. Its an expensive upgrade but I think I would have plenty of flexibility. Everyones input has been great now I have to save some pennies! I love technology!
If you go with the D4 you'll have to lug that big b!tch around with you to gigs.. I use Traktor Pro and Faderfox DJ2 and just ordered the DX2. Each are smaller tha a DVD case and have everything you need and are expandable. If you don't want to give up the decks just go with Scratch Pro and the DX2 for loops, FX and to control the other 2 internal decks, and use the vinyl/cd decks and an external mixer. Might sound complicated but it all fits in my backpack and sets up in 10 mins.

decisions decisions......
this is tru... you want convenience and easy to set up. you have to think about where you will be playing and if there will be room for a set up that big. a controller fits neatly on a rack/stand.
Most of my playing will be done right here at THE HALFWAY HOUSE!
Hey if you got the bucks get that big bitch. It's s bad ass piece and really is worth lugging around. Most people that book you are willing to accomodate you. It just means you gotta get there early to set it up. But, i would definitely look into a travel friendly setup just for flexabilty's sake. I modified my total control by adding and internal sound card just to eliminate carrying around the external card. the less shit to mess up the more you can focus on your set and having a good time.
So I now use serato and have been thinking of lookin into traktor. But it seems that Serato is now trying to add a bunch of new features. They now have Midi input and a 6 channel sampler.

I like my Serato. Having invested in Serato a few years ago, I am still satisfied with it. If Serato didn't add new features, they would be out of business with all of the competition from Traktor and other hardware/software...Serato comes out with a new update with additional features at least once or twice a year..
As much as I would like to switch to Traktor, I will just wait it out, and see what they have in store for their next update. Rumor has it that Serato will be partners with Ableton very soon. :)

they work well together
well I'm officially addicted to Traktor....if Serato comes out with cool updates and Ableton more power to them. I personally like the layout and functionality of Traktor. Serato has some catching up to do in my book.
