Danny's introduction to EDM came in 1989 at the age of 15 when he attended Visage Nightclub in Orlando. It was a pretty gothic dance scene but Industrial was turning into Techno quickly back then. His early musical influences included bands like Jane's Addiction, Front 242, Kraftwerk, The Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, and NIN.
Getting into Aahz Nightclub (Orlando)(myspace.com/aahzclassics) underage a year or so later he had the opportunity to see some great dj acts before they "made it". Including but not limited to Kimball Collins, Chris Fortier, dj Sasha (first US stop), Sean Cusik, dj Three, and Dave Cannalte to name a few. So captured by what he had heard, seen, and experienced he stayed committed to the new scene for the next three years, soaking it all in.
"If they only heard about it and didn't see it then there's no way in a million years that they'll ever be able to understand," - Kimball Collins @ Aahz.
It was not until early 1999 that he decided it was time to pick up a set of 1200's and learn to dj.
Playing in various local (Brevard County, FL) area clubs within one year, Danny opened for such acts as Jimmy Joslin & Magic Mike, Paul Moss, and Mike & Charlie, a clubnight that was broadcast on Orlando FM radio. His true love being Progressive House and Techno, Danny decided to turn his sights back on Orlando's house music scene once again. Within a couple years, and with his newfound friends at the Drop Shop in Orlando, he started his first weekly online radio show (dropshop.com) called "The Progression Session", spotlighting the weeks' new Progressive and Tech arrivals and promoting the Drop Shop's upcoming events. Thankfully (or fatefully) he was teamed up with fellow Orlando Progressive guru (and all around great guy!) Bert Simmons. They hosted their radio show for over two years, landing them a short lived but weekly residency in downtown Orlando, and a small following.
Now to today: Although djing is the basis for all of this, Danny was all the while sharpening his production skills behind various DAW's thru the years, always wanting to CREATE the music he loved so much. Acid, Friuty Loops, Reason, etc. were the name of the game until the advent of Ableton Live. Ever since then he has shifted all of his music productions and dj mixes to Ableton Live.
Turntables sold, CD players broken, and crates of records sold off (not the good stuff ;), Danny is an all out ALDJ and producer. Under alias Ablekid, and drawing on his early musical influences like Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, The Cure, Love and Rockets, and The Doors, his productions tend to be like the above: Hard, Soft, DEEP, Trippy, Loose, Tight, and everything between. Enjoy.
Oh yea, and when you're not playing, listening, or dancing to music. What else do you enjoy doing?
