- David Morales is probably my ultimate inspiration, his ability to take a listener on a journey is incredible.
- Please tell us about yourself.
- Possibly better known as DJ X-tsy from his past. Edson C. Soriano was born in San Francisco to Bolivian parents in the late seventies. Although S.F. born, he is DC Area raised. Edson is a long time witness to the morphing world of dance music thanks to his father, who was also a club DJ. His interest in spinning began when he first visited the legendary 12" Dance Records in Washington, DC with his father for fresh high energy vinyl. On that visit he brought back a few bargain bin 45s for his "toy" record player. Over the next few years the tinkering on 1200's began. When he was about 14 Edson decided that as soon as his father would leave for work, he’d turn on the equipment and start exploring the knobs and sliders while playing records. It did not take long to figure out the basics of mixing music.
While attending High School Edson began purchasing vinyl, and started promoting his own parties as DJ X-tsy. Soon thereafter, the club circuit began and he made an important move by joining the DC based O.M.A.P. Record Pool, which already provided the hottest records to top Mid-Atlantic region DJ’s.
In the mid 90's Edson was recruited as resident DJ on Friday Nights at the infamous DC club TRACKS following DJ Saeed Younan. His reputation in the DC area grew. By 1999 he had played every major club in DC. Countless house-heads have been entertained by Edson and those he has worked with, such as Saeed Younan, Sam "The Man" Burns, Double07, DJ Oso-Fresh, and long time DJ partner Overkill.
Edson has been mixing for over 15 years and collected thousands of 12", thanks to working up to a top 20 record pool position. He has earned the distinction of owning one of the most complete dance music vinyl collections in the area.
Generally speaking, his sets are a roller coaster ride through the world of house music. Edson doesn’t like to fixate on the over-classification of house. He’s best known for choosing latin inspired tracks and rhythmic beats, but refuses to be limited by a sub-genre.
However, unlike many vinyl born DJ’s, Edson has skipped the movement to CD;s and recently moved into a completely digital solution. His new turntables are housed in a Vestax VCI-100, and his crates are on an Apple MacBook Pro.

Ahhhh, launching another site! ! There goes my time!
So I'm sitting here at work and thinking to myself, do I REALLY need another project!? I have the entire Crossroad Automotive Network of sites, models, cars, etc etc, I have a House Music Meetup group based in DC, Dj'ing, Gaming, working on my classic car. OMG Can I just clone myself!?
